Thinking of ditching the dealership service plan – anyone gone the independent route?
My 2019 X3 just ran out of the official service package and I’m honestly not sure if I should renew with the dealer or try something else. The quotes I got from the dealership for the next two years are pretty painful, and I’ve heard mixed things about how they handle older cars anyway. A couple of friends who drive German cars told me to look into a Comprehensive Contract Abu Dhabi option from a good independent specialist instead, because you often get better coverage for things the dealer excludes like wear items or certain gaskets. I drive about 25,000 km a year between the city and site visits, so I want something that covers regular oil changes, brakes when needed, and maybe some peace of mind for unexpected stuff. Has anyone here switched from the dealer to an independent service contract? What should I watch out for in the fine print? Also curious if they actually use genuine BMW parts or aftermarket – not trying to start a debate, just want to know what’s normal. Appreciate any honest experiences.
