I’m starting to get pretty worried about my 2017 Mustang GT and I’m hoping someone here can give me some honest advice. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve noticed that the clutch seems to be slipping when I accelerate hard, especially in the higher gears. The engine revs climb but the car doesn’t pull as hard as it should, and I can smell a faint burning smell after driving it spiritedly, which I’m pretty sure is the clutch. The car has about 85,000 km on it and I do drive it fairly aggressively, so I’m not totally surprised that the clutch might be wearing out, but I’m not sure if I need a full replacement or if it could just be adjusted somehow. I’ve read that the MT-82 transmissions in these cars can have clutch issues, and some people recommend upgrading to an aftermarket clutch while others say the OEM one is fine if you don’t track the car. I don’t really want to take it to the dealership because I know they’ll charge me a fortune and probably try to upsell me on a bunch of other things I don’t need. A buddy of mine who has a GT350 mentioned Mustang car repair Dubai and said there’s a specialist in Al Quoz who deals with these cars all the time and can recommend whether I need a full clutch kit or just a new flywheel and friction disc. Has anyone here had clutch issues on their S550 Mustang and can tell me what the symptoms were and what the replacement cost ended up being? I’m trying to figure out whether to stick with OEM or go for an aftermarket upgrade while I’m at it.
