I’m finally about to take delivery of a used 570S that I’ve been saving up for ages, and while I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement, I’m also genuinely terrified about the ownership costs, especially when it comes to servicing and repairs. I know the dealership is an option, they’ve just opened a new service centre on Airport Road that looks state-of-the-art and has McLaren-trained technicians , but I’m not exactly made of money and I’ve heard their labour rates can be eye-watering. The car is a 2018 model and I plan on driving it regularly, so I need to find a workshop that really knows these cars inside out but doesn’t charge the premium that the official dealer does. I’ve heard that these cars have very specific needs, especially the carbon fibre monocoque and the complex electronics, so I can’t just take it to any general mechanic . A friend mentioned there are a few independent garages in the city that specialise in supercars, including McLaren, and they use the same factory diagnostic tools. I’ve been looking for a workshop that offers expert McLaren repair in Abu Dhabi, as I want to build a relationship with a specialist who can handle everything from routine maintenance to potential issues like the SSG transmission or the cooling system, which I’m told can be troublesome in this heat. Has anyone here had a good experience with an independent McLaren specialist? I’d really appreciate some honest recommendations before I commit to the purchase.
