<p class=»ds-markdown-paragraph»><span class=»»>So I’ve got a bit of a concern with my 2016 BMW 530i and I’m hoping some of you more experienced owners can chime in. I’ve had the car for about two years now and it’s been absolutely brilliant, smooth as silk on the highway and handles like a dream. But over the last couple of months I’ve noticed that I’m having to top up the oil way more frequently than I used to, maybe about a liter every 1,500 kilometers or so. At first I thought maybe I just hadn’t let it settle after the last service, but it’s been consistently getting worse and I’m starting to get a bit worried. I know BMWs have a reputation for using a bit of oil, especially the turbocharged engines, but this feels excessive to me. I’ve checked for leaks and there’s nothing on the driveway, no smoke from the exhaust, and the car still drives perfectly, so I’m really scratching my head. I took it to a general garage for a quick inspection and they didn’t seem to have any idea what could be causing it, which didn’t fill me with confidence. I’m thinking I need to find a place that really knows these engines inside out, someone who understands the N20 platform and the common issues they have at higher mileages.
